It was July 1988, and we had so much fun doing our Dream within a Dream workshop that we ended up together for a summer production of Dracula at the playhouse too. During our run, the weather was very hot and filled with powerful thunder and lightning storms. The perfect backdrop to our production of the Count. I had set the play way down South in New Orleans. We threw in some truly outlandish accents, much ad-libs mixed in with luscious amounts of Anne Rice style vampires. All played out to my pal Tom Jones’ wildly sexy blues and jazz soundtrack. It was a blast, sold-out houses full of laughs and screams. Of course, that annoyed some purists, but the show was a great success and people not agreeing with how we did things was to become par for the course.
