A Night for Human Rights

” The room did not leave me wanting. The place was filthy, and the words were waiting.”

Come spend an evening of table tapping with the grand old poof as Andrew Dark brings us ‘Channeling Quentin Crisp’. Based on the writings of the powered messiah himself, Mr. Dark has created a show which peppers the evening with a slew of witty stories and some sad truths. All the while espousing Crisp’s outlandish yet somehow unifying theory of style. A truly refreshing night out.

Hear a performance of  ‘Channeling Quentin Crisp’.

Channeling Quentin Crisp

It had been a couple of years without directing anything and, as always, with long intervals without doing something theatrical. I was going pretty nuts. LOL. Back then, I had been working with Felix Alverez on Gay rights issues and decided to do a fundraiser for his organization. This was a time when Gibraltar was still far behind the rest of the world in this issue. I put together a host of sketches and pieces from all over the place. Including large amounts of the Vagina Monologues, Monty Python sketches, beat poetry and many others. I also wrote and performed ‘Channeling Quentin Crisp’ as a tribute to my good friend and set designer Bob Olsen, who had passed. This one man show was taken on a small tour. Which included a trip to the USA and ‘the Elmwood playhouse’ where Bob and I had played.
